The Ultimate Guide to Buying a Brooks Leather Jacket
Open Road and Leather Accessories lists some top factors you need to consider when shopping and buying a Brooks leather jacket in this quick blog.
Brooks Leather is a Made-in-America company that we are proud to work with to give the best value and style to the discerning buyer. They have been in business since 1959. Most of their products are manufactured in their factory in Massachusetts, but they do import some styles from their sources overseas. Open Road Leather and Accessories is proud to offer Brooks Leather motorcycle jackets and products to our customers.
- Trendy or Classic
Like any other fashion trend, there are a variety of styles available in Brooks leather jackets. Now, whether you wish to go with the trendy look or stick to the classics is really a personal choice, but it doesn’t hurt to remember that fads come and go, and a trend-based choice can fade out sooner than later.
- Picking the Right Leather
Leather comes in a lot of different types of looks, textures, and thicknesses, and while these details may seem small, they make a world of difference on the open road. These small specifications ultimately decide how the material will fit, wear, breathe, and look. A subtly textured leather usually lasts longer and ages well.
- Ensure Proper Shoulder Alignment
The shoulders of your leather jacket should line up perfectly and compliment your body. They shouldn’t be too wide or too narrow as both these fits would look and feel uncomfortable, which is not something that you want once you’re on your bike.
- Go for Universal Hardware
One critical yet frequently overlooked make-or-break component of a great Brooks leather jacket is the color. You should try to find neutrally colored hardware as it will enable you to carry your leather jacket with any type of clothing or accessory you like.
- The Length of Your Jacket
When it comes to leather jackets, both cropped and regular fits look amazing. Which of them looks better on you is really a decision that needs to be taken based on your personal style and body type. If your goal is to style your jacket with jeans, go for regular length. However, if you want to wear it with dresses, a cropped jacket would be the best choice.
- The Devil is in the Details
The detailing can truly make a brooks leather jacket. An ‘over-decorated’ might be what you want, while one with no detailing might not be for you. While everyone may want something different, generally, look for one with the right blend of zippers, stitching, and hardware that add an ‘X factor’ to your jacket without making it overbearing.

I am really excited about this. This information is quite helpful and simple. Thank you.

The information is helpful but what I found seriously missing after looking at hundreds , maybe thousands of motorcycle jackets is that most all jackets lengths are in the 26”to27” range with no consideration that a man’s height can be 5’2” to 6’10”. With those standard lengths offered a guy under 5’7” can look like a stubby troll with the coat hanging to far over his ass. A good looking motorcycle jacket should be just below the belt line. When are these jacket makers going to start taking height in consideration? The only one I know of is Leather Cult that will do what you want with an abundant of leather samples, but they are over in India which makes me a bit hesitant.
I appreciate, cause I found exactly what I was looking for. You have ended my 4 day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day. Bye
I always was interested in this subject and still am, thanks for putting up.
